About me

My name is Moira Congreve and I am a fully trained, qualified and experienced counsellor. I have 20yrs experience working with Primary Care in the UK and I am a member of the RCN (Royal College of Nurses) and the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and bound by their ethical framework of good practice (MBACP membership number 564846).

The type of counselling I practice is called 'Person-Centred’ counselling or therapy and is practical, holistic, and socially-based. It takes the view that every individual is unique and has their own internal resources for personal growth.

I aim to provide the core conditions of unconditional positive regard, empathy and congruence within the counselling sessions. This type of counselling may not always be a gentle experience and needs commitment and effort from you but can be very liberating and effective.

The 'Person-centred' approach creates a relationship-based therapy that recognises individuals their uniqueness and the client is seen as being fully capable of fulfilling their own potential growth. as such, the focus of the therapy is on your own feelings and thoughts and you will therefore not be given any advice or instructed what is best for you but encouraged to explore those issues that you feel troubled by.

An initial informal chat or consultation can help decide if this is the best route for you individually.
